I like to solve application problems using the Web (statelessness, hypermedia, self-descriptive representations, and uniform interfaces) to produce an asymptotically tight bound solution!

Mobile Monday Silicon Valley

Yesterday, over 50 people attended Mobile Monday's meeting at Oracle HQ in Redwood City. We discussed data management for mobile applications and considered the use of feeds as data sources as well as the importance of seamless online-offline applications.

The session was very interactive and a large number of issues were discussed along the way. Discussion revolved around the following issues:
  • Security
    • authorization
    • encryption
    • device loss
    • holes in IE mobile browser
  • Trade-offs in application development vis-a-vis HTML5 storage
  • Fit for feature phones as opposed to smart phones
  • Suitability for graph structured data models in general
  • Support for JSON as opposed to XML feeds
Here's the slide deck I used for the presentation.
